Mindful Peace International
MPI
Mindful Peace International is a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing the noble tradition of Buddhist culture and Chan-Inspired lifestyle across the globe.
With a growing presence across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania, and Africa, we are committed to fostering an open and diverse global ecosystem of Mindful Peace culture.
Origin & Development
Mindful Peace International is honored to have received the trust of Venerable Master Jiqun—a contemporary distinguished figure in Chinese Buddhism, the 10th-generation successor of the Weiyang Sect, and the 45th-generation successor of the Linji Sect of Chinese Chan Buddhism. With over more than thirty years of exploring modern approaches to the education of Chinese Buddhism, Master Jiqun has developed a comprehensive Buddhist curriculum, which he has generously entrusted to Mindful Peace International to share with people around the world.

Message from the Venerable Master: “To establish the Mindful Peace Academy is to carry forward the wisdom of the Buddha Dharma, offering overseas Chinese and international friends a path to peace, purpose, and refuge for both body and mind.” This message has become the guiding principle for Mindful Peace International. At the same time, we have respectfully invited Venerable Master Jiqun to serve as the MPI's mentor, who offers profound guidance on spreading Mindful Peace culture and on the organization's overall development.
Since its registration in Zurich, Switzerland, in February 2022, Mindful Peace International has been growing steadily in the right direction. This growth includes building a global membership network, organizing a wide range of mindful cultural activities and programs, and connecting with individuals and communities from diverse cultural backgrounds. Every step deepens our mission, puts our guiding vision into practice, and affirms our lasting commitment to sharing the Mindful Peace culture with the world.

Centered on a life-awakening educational curriculum, MPI is developing a series of nonprofit initiatives, including Mindful Peace Academy, Mindful Peace Yards, and Dhyana Tea. Across different regions, we design Chan-Inspired spaces and operate standardized programs that offer an experience characterized by supportive atmosphere, progressive stages, clear methods, and compassionate guidance. Through these efforts, more people can explore and learn from this 2,000-year- old life-awakening education and experience the unique inspiration of Mindful Peace culture.
Mentor Introduction
Mentor
Venerable Master Jiqun
Born in 1962 in Fu’an, China, Venerable Master Jiqun was ordained at Yongquan Monastery on Gushan Mountain by Master Puyu in 1979 and received his full ordination in 1981 at Guangji Monastery in Beijing. As the 10th-generation successor of the Weiyang Sect and the 45th-generation successor of the Linji Sect of Chinese Chan Buddhism, he has been honored with an Honorary Doctorate in Literature from the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. Additionally, he has been conferred the roles of guest researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social’Center for Buddhist Studies and guest professor at various universities.

After his studies at the Buddhist Academy of China in 1980, Ven. Master Jiqun took up teaching roles at the Fujian Buddhist Institute, Minnan Buddhist Institute, and Jie-Chuang Institute of Buddhist Studies, teaching core Buddhist disciplines like Agama, Consciousness-Only, Madhyamaka, the Platform Sutra, and Vinaya. His decades-long dedication to teaching, combined with reflection on the most effective methods for studying Buddhism, led him to formulate the five key pillars of Buddhist practice: Taking Refuge, Arousal of the Mind, Precepts, Right Views, and Samatha-Vipassana. These pillars now serve as the foundation of the Mindful Peace Academy Curriculum, enriching the practice and lives of many practitioners.

Since 1992, Venerable Master Jiqun has been delivering lectures to both academic institutions and the general public, broadening the reach of Buddhist teachings in China and around the world. Embracing Master Taixu’s philosophy of “Humanistic Buddhism,” Venerable Master Jiqun uses Buddhist wisdom to address contemporary social issues. Through various formats such as expert dialogues, keynote lectures, and interviews, he has explored more than twenty themes, including happiness, wealth, belief, environmental protection, morality, entrepreneurship, psychology, human nature, the self, culture, the world, arts, life, science, philosophy, education, interpersonal relationships, life attitudes, and even artificial intelligence. He aims to guide people away from confusion and affliction, empowering them to live healthy, happy, and wise lives.

Venerable Master Jiqun, in addition to his contributions to Dharma education, is a prolific author. His publications, amassing over four million characters, include titles like Wisdom in Life, Guidance in Learning, and Precepts as Teacher. With a profound and undefiled understanding of the Buddha Dharma, he examines social issues, clarifies common misconceptions of Buddhist practice, and offers practical solutions.
